Frankfort, KY, October 21, 2008 – Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill has received seven first
place awards for its division in the 2008 Kentucky Tourism Industry Annual Conference
Traverse Awards for Excellence in Marketing Competition.
The awards are First for Rack Brochure, Group Travel Guide or Meeting Planner,
Direct Mail, Television Advertisement, Promotional Video, Marketing Campaign,
and Website. In addition, Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill won the highest honor of Best
of Show for their website www.MyFavoriteKentuckyPlace.org.
Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill received its awards Tuesday, October 14 during the
Traverse Gala held at Bowling Green’s Sloan Convention Center as part of the 2008
Kentucky Tourism Industry Annual Conference.
Tourism businesses and marketing organizations within the commonwealth of
Kentucky vie for awards in 16 separate categories during the annual competition
produced by the Kentucky Tourism Council. A panel of out-of-state experts judged 214
entries from across the state for this year’s presentation of awards.
Traverse Awards for Excellence in Tourism Marketing are open to Kentucky Tourism
Council and Kentucky Hotel & Lodging Association members marketing a tourism
product or service in Kentucky. All entries must have been published or distributed
within the past year. Each entry is judged for concept, its creativity and design, and
reach.
The Kentucky Tourism Council is a Frankfort-based state association that represents
every segment of Kentucky’s tourism industry. The 583-member organization offers
continuing education programs, provides legislative advocacy for Kentucky’s travel
industry and works in governmental relations.
