The Shakers celebrated February 29 as the birth date of their early prophetess and leader, Mother Ann Lee. On that day, no work was to be done, and the Shakers held union meetings and singing meetings to commemorate Mother's birth. When February contained only 28 days, the Shakers celebrated Mother Ann's birthday on March 1.

• Mother Ann's birthday cake will be the special dessert in the Trustees' Office Dining Room
